REGGAE FEVER / Daniel Tuffs talk on Shaolin Sounds, dubplates & vinyls / 01.11.23.
This time we talked to Daniel Tuffs, one of the biggest young reggae enthusiasts active on the scene and the man behind Shaolin Sounds, an independent record label from Norwich, which produces vinyl exclusives in very limited editions for sound system selectors and collectors.
Most of those releases remain in the analog world, so now we will play for the first time just a few dubplates that they recently released (more about the „dubplate“ phenomenon in our episode #105). We will also listen to a few songs from 4 general editions that are more accessible to a wider audience, especially the songs from the new Jojo Gladdy LP album, that we see in the picture.
In addition, Daniel is one of the most active „researchers“ of old reggae music. Many previously undiscovered reggae tapes can be found and unearthed on the channels of this house, which is a real privilege for all reggae connoisseurs.
